Homework: May 23

Hello All,

Today we continued to work on Run-on sentences.  Instead of separating the run-on into two different sentences, today we combined sentences using AND, SO, BUT, BECAUSE.

We use AND to combine two ideas that are connected but have no direct relationship.

For example:  Melody went home AND started her homework.

We use SO to combine two ideas that have a relationship, you need one for the other.

For example:  Melody was very hungry, so she ate lunch.

For homework:  Work with the sentences below.

      1.   The math class is difficult I have to study every night.
      2.   We thanked the volunteers for cleaning the park the mayor sent all of them a handwritten thank-you note.
      3.   My metal patio chairs were too hot to touch, we spread a blanket out on the grass and had a picnic in the backyard.
