Homework: May 23 and May 24

Hello,

We have been working on word problems in class.

For homework:  For the next two days, I would like you to create your own word problems. You will be creating TWO word problems after this assignment is complete.

Criteria for word problems:
1. Must be solved using one of the operations ( + , -, x, / )
2. Must involve the characters from Catching Fire
3. Must involve perimeter and/or area

Level 1:  Please use whole numbers up to 100 in your word problem.  You may use the following format.

ex:  Katniss and Peeta are planting a garden in the Victor's Village.  The garden is __________ long and _________ wide.

Please solve your word problem.  SHOW YOUR WORK.

Level 2:  Please use at least whole number and one number that has a decimal (one place value after the decimal --> .1, .2, .3,.4, .5).

Please solve your word problem.  SHOW YOUR WORK.

Level 3: Please use at least two numbers that have a decimal (one place value after the decimal --> .1, .2, .3,.4, .5).

Please solve your word problem.  SHOW YOUR WORK.

Homework: May 21 and May 22

Hello Everyone!

This week we are working on using the distances we have found from two points plotted on a coordinate plane to find the perimeter and area of polygons.

For homework:  In order to go forward, we have to take a few steps back!  Please use the following IXL links to practice finding perimeter and area.

Level 1: Perimeter of polygons

Level 2: Perimeter of rectangles

Level 3: Perimeter and Area word problems

Homework: May 15th

Hello!

Today we used coordinates to determine the distance between two points.

Here is the distance formula:

Use the coordinates provided to answer  the questions below:

If you need a calculator, you can use this!  (To square^2 an answer, you use the xy button--> type the number, then xy button, then 2)

Level 1:

Point 1 : (1, 9)
Point 2: (7, 18)

What is:
X1:
X2:
Y1:
Y2:

Level 2:

Point 1 : (-2, 14)
Point 2: (7,19)

Part A: What is...
X1:
X2:
Y1:
Y2:

Part B:
What is (X2 - X1)^2 =
What is (Y2 - Y1)^2 =

Level 3:

Point 1 : (-13, -7
Point 2: (15, 20)

Part A: What is...
X1:
X2:
Y1:
Y2:

Part B:
What is (X2 - X1)^2 =
What is (Y2 - Y1)^2 =
